Kohatu 2024 100g Hop Pellets
Kohatu is a relatively new aroma hop from New Zealand, developed to provide distinct and fresh fruit notes in beer.
Aroma/flavor: Tropical fruit (especially pineapple and mango), citrus (lime) and a hint of pine.
Uses: Most commonly used for late addition, whirlpool and dry hopping.
Beer styles: IPA, Pale Ale, NEIPA and other hop-rich beers.
Alpha acid: 6%.
Vintage: 2024.
Known for providing a clean, juicy and slightly exotic character, without being too bitter or sharp, Kohatu often works well on its own, but can also be combined with other hops for more complexity.
Packaging:
The hops are gently weighed, nitrogen flushed and sealed in light-tight aluminum-coated packaging for optimal shelf life.
Flushing with nitrogen displaces oxygen that would otherwise degrade the quality of the hops. This method lowers the oxygen content in the bag to 0.6-0.8% oxygen which is very good for preserving quality/taste/aroma. The hop bag is stored cool at <4 degrees Celsius.
The opened bag is squeezed together and closed with a ziplock for further storage in the refrigerator.
