Rice Hulls 2kg

Rice Hulls 2 KG

Are you struggling with, or worried about, stuck mash with poor water/wort flow?

This can often be due to the malt being too close together, with little space between, or you are using malt/additions that are "sticky". Examples include using wheat, oatmeal, rye, too finely crushing the malt or an addition, such as pumpkin. A tall/narrow brewing apparatus can also result in more "pressure" and denser mash than if you use a lower/wider mash kettle. It may give better results if you brew with a sieve bottom (and possibly a mash bag) than if you brew with a sieve vessel.

The solution may be to add rice husks to the mash. This makes it more "airy" and porous, and it is easier to wash out and rinse through. The rice husks do not add any flavor and do not add any sugar or starch, but will help the mash to increase in volume, so remember to take this into account if you are moving towards the maximum limit of what is recommended for your equipment.

Recommended amount is 200-250g per batch of 20-25 liters.
